Saturday 03/01/14

What a day. The morning started with heavy snow falling and kids digging their cars out in the parking lot to go skiing. Over a foot of new snow fell overnight and in the morning. Vail Pass, the Eisenhower Tunnel and RT 70 were closed from 7am to 12:30pm. Hundreds of cars were stranded waiting for the highways to open. Down in Denver, RT25 was closed for 5 hours because of a 104 car pileup that killed one person. The Staten island Ski club that was out in Vail for a week, spent 7 1/2 hours getting from Vail to the airport. Locals were saying that they NEVER saw it this bad on the roadways.

By 3pm, most of the roadways were open, so we traveled to Frisco (about 3 miles) to enter Benny and his friend in the Baraus Parade of Dogs.We entered them as the court Jesters and we won First prize in that category. It was a LONG day which ended at the A-Cafe for dinner. I hope the snow stops for tomorrow.
